Margareta Bengtson

Margareta Bengtson grew up in a musical family in Tyresö outside Stockholm. Early she began to sing and play piano and later the harp, which became her main instrument at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

After 22 years as a soprano in the Real Group Margareta 2007 began a solo career. It was a fantastic start with the critically acclaimed jazz cd "Im Oldfashioned", and a series of appearances at various festivals, and a successful tour to Japan the same year.
Since then, Margaret has released two albums. First, a big bandalbum, "En gång i Stockholm," which also was released in Japan under the title"Where The Midnight Sun Never Sets, and" As We Are "together with Nils Lindberg.

Margaret has in recent years had great success in his collaborations with among others jazz trumpet player Peter Asplund, Nils Lindberg, pianoplayer Mathias Algotsson, the choir OrpheiDrängar, string orchestra Musica Vitae, and a number of big bands and choirs around the country.

In the spring of 2011 Margareta Bengtson was named this year's female cultural personality in her home community Tyresö.
